About Laura
Praised for her dark, singing tone and exceptional technique, Laura Pitner, based in Columbus, Ohio, has had a lifelong passion for performance. Laura currently holds the second oboe/English horn position with both the Ohio State University Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra (Columbus, OH) and is a founding member of the Kaleidoscope Wind Quintet (Columbus, OH). In the past, she has held principal oboe positions with the Westwood Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra (Austin, TX), and a second/English horn position with the Austin Youth Orchestra (Austin, TX). She was voted "Most Likely to Run Into a Burning Building to Save Their Instrument" by her high school band her senior year, and considers it one of her greatest achivements to date.
